The Miriam Hospital
The Miriam Hospital (TMH) is a 225 bed hospital and is a major teaching hospital of Brown University. Together with Rhode Island Hospital, TMH is part of the Lifespan hospital system. The two hospitals operate on the same PACS system and both are staffed by the faculty of the Brown Department of Diagnostic Imaging.
The Radiology dept has been a leader in innovative treatment and was instrumental in helping TMH be designated the first JCAHO accrediated stroke center in Rhode Island. The MR magnet is a Siemens 1.5 Tesla Symphony scanner that has been continually updated to provide state-of-the-art imaging, including cardiac MR, peripheral MR angiography, and MRCP. Over 6000 MR exams are performed every year at the site, which was opened in 2004 to provide an optimal patient friendly environment. All MR exams are interpreted by board certified radiologists with special training in MRI.
