Freshman Seminar in Tropical
Biology

This seminar focuses on the biology and conservation of tropical
ecosystems and is designed for students seriously committed on embarking
on careers in ecology, evolutionary biology and/or conservation
biology. Topics to be discussed will include the ecology of rainforest,
mangrove, seagrass and coral reef ecosystems, ancient and current
Mayan cultures and the history of Belize. The course will conclude
with an 8-day field trip to Belize in January where the students
will visit rainforest and coral reefs sites and carry out small
group research projects on the Belizean reef. This course is limited
to 10 students. Cost to student participants will be $1000. Permission
