Brown University, Joint Appointment with Department of Economics and Institute for the Study of Environment and Society (ISES)

Tenure Track Position
Assistant Professor

Environmental Economics

The Department of Economics and the Institute for the Study of Environment and Society (ISES) at Brown University seek to recruit an Assistant Professor of Economics (tenure-track) whose research addresses one or more issues in environmental economics, beginning July 1, 2015. The new faculty member will have appointments in the Department of Economics and the newly formed Institute. This is a tenure track position with the tenure line in the Department of Economics. He/she will contribute to undergraduate teaching and mentorship within the Environmental Studies Major at Brown and to undergraduate and graduate teaching in Economics. The appointee will join a growing unique interdisciplinary environmental research community across the university that spans the natural and social sciences and other related fields inclusive of public health and engineering. While it is expected that the appointee will publish primarily in mainstream disciplinary journals, he/she should have an interest in and ability to successfully engage with scholars from other environmentally-related disciplines. A successful candidate must be engaged in a research program with the potential to influence his/her field and demonstrate the potential for excellence in undergraduate and graduate teaching and advising.

Candidates should have a Ph.D. in hand or firmly expected by August 2015 and should show promise of significant scholarship and teaching ability. A completed application will include a cover letter, a curriculum vitae, and a copy of important publications or working papers. All candidates must apply online at http://www.econjobmarket.org/ through the Economics open search portal. Candidates should also indicate their interest in this particular position by emailing Andrew Foster (afoster@brown.edu) with “Environmental Economics Search” in the Subject. Applications must be received by January 1, 2014 to be guaranteed full consideration but will be accepted until the positions are filled.
