Holly was an Information Systems Analyst for the Rhode Island Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (RIDE). In this position, she was responsible for all aspects of Career and Technical Education (Carl D. Perkins IV Accountability) information technology system management. Ms. Harriel had been at RIDE for four years and in that time led a CTE information technology system redesign effort that has RIDE in full compliance with all federal accountability laws and regulations.
Prior to her experience at the Rhode Island Department of Education, Ms. Harriel worked as a Geographic Information System Analyst at the Providence Plan, where her focus was on building the data capacity of various community non profits and neighborhood groups situated within Providence's South Side neighborhood. Ms. Harriel started her career in the Boston and Cambridge, Massachusetts area where she worked in the community, economic, and affordable housing industry as an Urban Planner, engaged in large scale affordable housing, economic reinvestment, and community information technology projects.
Ms. Harriel received a Bachelor of Science degree from Tuskegee University and Auburn University awarded her a master's degree in sociology. She has also been awarded a master of city planning degree from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
Ms. Harriel is a fitness enthusiasts and when not working with computers and the latest technology is a personal fitness trainer. She also volunteers as a high school girl's basketball coach.
A native of Baltimore, Maryland, Holly now lives in Pawtucket, Rhode Island.
