EN175 is an advanced undergraduate level course on the mechanics of solids. The goal of the course is to provide a broad survey of modern methods of stress analysis. Topics covered include: (i) The mathematical basis for stress analysis; (ii) Models of material behavior; (iii) The finite element method and its application; (iv) Selected exact solutions to boundary and initial value problems involving deformable solids; and (v) Methods for modeling failure in deformable solids.
