FARM MARKET HELP: LOCAL SEAFOOD
The Local Catch, a new local seafood direct marketing venture owned and run by a day-boat commercial fisherman, is looking for help at several farm markets throughout the Providence area. We sell fish caught on our own boat and the boats of our neighbors in Galilee. Our mission is to keep Rhode Island seafood local, reduce the carbon footprint of the seafood consumed in our state, and help keep small boat fishermen in business through direct connections to the public. Our farm market schedule is as follows: Wednesdays (3-7) at Lippitt Park; Thursdays (3:30-7:30) at the Armory, and Fridays (3-7) in North Providence. A Saturday morning slot in Lippitt Park may also become available, depending on volume of sales. Hourly rate $10/hour.

Applicants interested in one or more farm markets should contact Sarah at (401)-284-1195 or thelocalcatch@cox.net / We are also happy to work with any students looking for a more educational experience.

JAN PLAN/EXTENDED STUDY TRIP TO THE PATAGONIA SUR NATURE RESERVE
January 2, 2011 – January 17, 2012

Students will experience hands-on experiential learning opportunities, guided expeditions, and classes. Furthermore, the Patagonia Sur Jan Plan provides students the chance to partake in a service learning project that connects them with the villages of Paean and Melimoyu – each a unique outpost at the edge of the wilderness. Students will have the opportunity to view and study incredible wildlife including whales, dolphins, sea lions and penguins.
