Advanced coursework

Courses above GRMN 0110 are taught in German or in English and are designed to allow students to pursue specialized interests such as literature, film, media theory, urban studies, disability studies, etc. These courses are mostly discussion-oriented, and students are encouraged to engage critically with both primary and secondary texts.

Students are not required to take these courses in any particular sequence. Courses offered in English are open to all. Those taught in German require GRMN 0050 or the equivalent language proficiency. Consult the concentration advisor Roberto_Simanowski@brown.edu, for the courses most appropriate for you.
