Invited to Speak
at the United Nations
B. Anthony Bogues , Harmon Family Professor of Africana Studies and Cogut Center Faculty Fellow, delivered the keynote address at a special commemorative session of the UN General Assembly on March 25, 2010, in observance of the International Day of Remembrance of the Victims of Slavery and the Transatlantic Slave. Prof. Bogues's talk is entitled "Reframing Haiti as an Archive of Freedom."

Directly after the Haitian earthquake in January 2010, Pres. Ruth Simmons named Profs. Bogues and Matthew Gutmann as co-directors of the Brown Haiti Crisis Response Committee.
