Multiracial Heritage Week

Expanding Our Community: Making our Presence Visible

Presented by: Third World Center
Programmers: Jennifer Chudy and Jamie Farris

Abstract: This collaborative effort will address issues that foster dialogue about race and identity to reach Brown University's diverse population and ultimately to establish bridges across racial differences.

The week will begin with a convocation showcasing student spoken word and vocal performances, as well as speeches from multiracial students. The discussion of multiracial issues will include a panel discussion on transracial adoption, an interracial dating forum and variety of social events. Timed to coincide with Parent's Weekend, the program will also provide a weekend brunch for students and their families.

Keynote speaker is Jen Chau, Founder of Swirl, Inc. Brown alumna Julia Grob ('04) will perform her critically-acclaimed one-woman show about mixed race Latina identity, "Her-story."
