Attilio Mussino's Shark's Belly
Attilio Mussino repeats his humanistic look at Pinocchio through the Picture within the Shark's Belly, accenting not the awe inspiring quality of the Shark itself but the comical state of Geppetto. Geppetto, in this picture, is in a sorry state: accented by the modest decorations of this dinner table, and the hunched back and white beard that are the stigmata of his old age. Dryly humourous is the fish that is jumping out of his plate, showing us the extent of his poverty. This picture, like the other pictures, focus on Geppetto. Mazzanti's Picture had its centre of perspective as the Geppetto, Mazzanti accented the hermit-like (St. Jerome?) of the man, and Tavole used the lights to create a halo around the man's head extending the former's implication greatly.
