The process through which Gris Grimly gave his own artistic interpretation of Collodi’s the Adventures of Pinocchio was not influenced by the original images from the text. Grimly rather went directly to the narrative and focused on scenes and jumped out at him from the text. Grimly’s passion for classic literature and its inherent darker elements allowed him to view Collodi’s novel in a greatly different view to that of Disney.
