Graduate Student Profile

Benedetta Gennaro



Benedetta Gennaro (Laurea University of Rome "La Sapienza, M.A. Miami University, Oxford, OH, adjunct faculty at Portland State University and Portland Community College, OR) is a fourth year student with a focus on modern Italian history, Risorgimento, gender and sexuality studies, and psychoanalysis. She is currently working on her dissertation, "Women in Arms: Gender and Transgression in the Risorgimento." Her teaching experience ranges from Introduction to American Film and Media Criticism (Miami University), Italian Cinema (Portland State U), Introduction to Gender and Sexuality Studies, to different levels of language instruction (Brown University). She is currently coordinating a Mellon Graduate Student workshop on "Bodies and Nations." She is also a reader on the editorial board of Working Papers, a graduate student publication of the UPenn Department of Romance Languages.
