ABSTRACT. TAPoRware: Exposing Texts to Text Analysis.
Typically electronic texts are bundled with the tools to search them
and analyze them. The TAPoR project is developing an alternative paradigm
where tools are made available through a portal that can manipulate well-behaved
texts anywhere on the Internet. This allows small projects to not have
to develop sophisticated search tools and instead concentrate on the electronic
edition. It also allows researchers to try unforseen methods on e-texts,
if those e-texts are exposed in a fashion that makes them tractable to
remote processing. In this paper Geoffrey Rockwell will demonstrate the
TAPoRware tools
which prototype the TAPoR paradigm for interacting with e-texts. He will
then discuss the model for the full TAPoR portal in which the TAPoRware
tools will be included.
