ARRIVAL INFORMATION Most of you will be flying into Logan Airport in Boston, Massachusetts. After you have claimed your luggage and passed through customs, proceed into the terminal reception area. There you will be met by representatives from Brown University (look for a student or students carrying a “Brown University” sign). You will then be directed to buses that will bring you directly to your dormitory on the Brown University campus, located about one hour’s drive from Logan Airport. Your address at Brown University will be: The Inn at Brown University
Lost luggage If one or more pieces of luggage do not arrive with you in Boston, please let the greeters from Brown know this. They will help you file a claim for lost luggage with your airline. When they arrive, late bags will then be sent on to the dormitory on the Brown campus a day or two later. Late arrivals or missed flights – important! If your scheduled flight into Boston is severely delayed (due to a missed connection or some other reason), you may arrive too late to be met by a greeter from Brown. Don’t panic! Buses for Providence leave directly outside the International Terminal. Look for green buses from Peter Pan Bus Lines. One-way fare to Providence Terminal costs $22, and the last bus leaves at 10:30 pm. When you arrive in Providence, look for a taxi and ask the driver to take you to The Inn at Brown, 101 Thayer Street, on the Brown University campus. Taxi fare should be approximately $10. If you arrive too late to catch the last Peter Pan bus, the first one in the morning leaves at 7:30 am. Arriving by train or bus Some of you may be arriving at an airport in the U.S. other than Logan and then traveling to Providence by train or bus. When you arrive at the train or bus station in Providence, take a taxi to The Inn at Brown, 101 Thayer Street, on the Brown University campus. Taxi fare should be less than $10.
Checking into Dormitories When you arrive at the Gregorian Quad dormitories, you will be asked to check in and will be provided access to your room. These dormitory rooms are air-conditioned and bed linens are provided. The only activity scheduled for arrival day, August 12th, is an informal welcome dinner at 7:00pm. Places to Eat Near Campus A number of inexpensive fast-food restaurants are also located nearby on Thayer Street. When leaving the dormitory grounds, turn right and head north on Thayer Street for 3-4 blocks. The Thayer Street area is home to lots of restaurants, coffee shops, small stores, movie theaters, as well as the Brown Bookstore (244 Thayer Street). |
