Program Associate Job Description

INTRODUCTION:
FilmAid International (www.filmaid.org) was founded by members of the entertainment community including Caroline Baron, Julia Ormond, Robert DeNiro and Jane Rosenthal in 1999 in response to the Kosovo Refugee Crisis. FilmAid utilizes film and video to promote health, strengthen communities and enrich the lives of the world’s vulnerable and uprooted. FilmAid is an independent non-profit organization.

 

POSITION:

The Program Associate will work closely with the Director of Programs at FilmAid’s 
headquarters in New York City.  As a primary program staff person in the New York 
office, the Program Associate will provide administrative and logistical support to 
all field programs to ensure the efficiency and quality  of FilmAid programs worldwide. 
S/he will be the primary staff person responsible for researching, developing and 
expanding FilmAid’s content library and managing all volunteers who assist in 
acquisitions. The Associate will also be actively involved in ensuring effective and
ongoing monitoring and evaluation of FilmAid’s international and domestic programs. 
S/he will assist in reporting on progress in the field, developing new project proposals 
and supporting the Director of Programs, Director of Developmentand Executive Director 
in representing FilmAid’s work to donors. 
 
RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE: 
  1. Respond to daily inquiries about programs
  2. Assist the Director of Development in drafting grant reports and proposals
  3. Research for new program development
Assist in managing all domestic projects
  1. Support ongoing monitoring and evaluation of field programs
  2. Maintain Program Statistics Database and coordinate circulation of data between FilmAid offices
  3. Manage FilmAid Content Library:
    1. Expand size of FilmAid’s library based on priorities set by the field offices
    2. Manage all content interns/volunteers
    3. Maintain good relationships with content donors
    4. Respond promptly to requests from field offices for new content
    5. Oversee shipment/delivery of content to field programs
    6. Maintain content database
  4. Provide logistical support to field staff, including solicitation of donated equipment, researching quotes for new equipment purchases, equipment repair and servicing and organizing freighting services
Assist the Communications Officer with a bi-monthly newsletter, including gathering 
and contextualizing information from the field, editing drafts for accuracy, selecting or 
requesting appropriate photos, etc.
Assist with maintenance of FilmAid footage archive
Help maintain efficient and productive communication with all field offices
Help ensure that FilmAid’s programs and beneficiaries are accurately and respectfully 
represented to the public 

 

CANDIDATE SHOULD HAVE THE FOLLOWING QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Relevant experience in film and/or forced migration issues
  2. Knowledge of community-based participatory approaches
  3. Knowledge of Microsoft Access
  4. Strong organizational, communication and research skills
  5. Excellent writing abilities
  6. Basic understanding of monitoring & evaluation methods
  7. Be a self-starter
  8. Proven ability to multi-task
  9. Flexibility
  10. Supervisory experience
  11. Relevant work experience and/or education (Masters degree preferred)
