Chris Hables Gray "The Cyborg Soldier" In Postmodern War: The New Politics of Conflict; Guilford Press; New York; 1997; (p. 195-211) In this essay, Gray explores the diverse DoD policies, CIA experiments, and acedamic research programs which are currently directed towards the synthetic creation of 'cyborg soldiers.' He outlines various research agendas and provides breif synopses of studies from Johns Hopkins, Stanford Research Institue, West Texas State, the Human Resources Office of the Army (HUMRRO), Los Alamos National Laboratory, the Artificial Intelligence Laboratory of the Air Force, to Wright Patterson Airforce Base. In the breadth of this scope, Gray highlights particular studies conducted by the Army and Air Force in efforts to introduce AI into fighter pilot and helicopter cockpits.
