The Village Voice: Voice Choices April 6, 1993
X-PRZ:
They're four guys who call themselves a biracial art band, and their
lightbox, text, and video installation -- about contradictory constructions of an
image -- choreographs Warhol's dance steps to reworked lyrics and racially relevant
imagery (Malcolm X, the L.A. riots, a diagrammatic slave ship). Mixing racial
discourse with New Age cultism, "JST BCZ UR PARANOID DNT THNK THYR NT AFTR U"
creates an aura of indirection and suspicion all around.
