We got M.L.K. Day.
We stand dead center, early nineties. Look around. A crest of interest / hype about the unlikely "American" hero type Malcolm X, has just past. Bits of X have been blown over boutiques, malls, Macy's, foreheads, chests, movie venues, and street corners. He is out there. He's out there in pieces. Recognizable bits (fingers pointing, hornrimmed glasses, the crisp goatee) are out there signifying his tough, his ability to take, not ask, for rights, space, responsibility.
