Rehearsal Spaces

Fulton Hall, adjacent to Grant, is the Music Department's largest rehearsal space, used primarily by the bands. Students in the symphonic wind ensemble, in the 18-piece Big band, in jazz combos, and in the Brown band, all make use of this space, which is large enough to contain the sound of massed brass and percussion.

The Brown University Orchestra primarily uses Alumnae Hall, on the Pembroke campus, as its main rehearsal space. The Chorus rehearses in the Choral Room on the first floor of Steinert.

Ghanaian Drumming rehearses in a large studio on the third floor of the Orwig music building, and the Javanese gamelan ensemble meets in a large classroom on the first floor of that building. Ensembles associated with the students in the MEME program rehearse in the recording facility on the second floor of Steinert.

Students who are enrolled in Music Department chamber ensembles can schedule space adequate for three or four players in the practice studios in Morrison Gerard, next to Fulton.
