Gary Buttery, Teaching Associate
Gary Buttery is a tuba and bassoon instructor. He has earned two masters degrees in tuba and music theory and composition from the University of Kansas and the University of Northern Colorado. He has performed with the Long Beach (CA) symphony, the san Carlo Opera and the Boston Festival orchestra. Buttery was the principal tubist in the US Coast guard Band from 1976to 1998. He has performed at Carnegie Hall, the Kennedy Center and the Octoberski Hall in St. Petersburg. At an upcoming German symposium in 2005, Buttery will be featured as a clinician and performer with Alchemy, and as a soloist with new electro-acoustic works for tuba.
