Faculty Fellowships
Proposals for Faculty Fellowships in the Upcoming Seminar
The Pembroke Center invites Brown faculty to apply for faculty research fellowships for 2013-14. The fellowships support the participation of Brown faculty members in the Pembroke Seminar, an interdisciplinary research seminar that meets weekly throughout the academic year. To enable Brown faculty members to participate in the 2013-2014 seminar, funds will be made available, on a per-course replacement basis, to the faculty members' home departments. Selected faculty fellow participants receive release-time from one course.
Participants in the Pembroke Seminar include Pembroke Center post-doctoral fellows, Brown faculty, visiting faculty affiliates, graduate and undergraduate student fellows, and distinguished visitors. In 2013-14, the seminar will focus on “Socialism and Post-Socialism” under the direction of Linda Cook, Professor of Political Science. (see full description). The seminar will meet on Wednesdays from 10:00 am - 12:30 pm. Faculty Fellows may participate in either semester of the seminar, though many opt to attend both semesters.
All Brown campus-based full-time faculty members are encouraged to apply. An application package should include a current curriculum vitae and a project proposal (1,000 words) that describes the applicant's research. Faculty participants should have an active interest in the seminar's topic, but the research project may be in any related field and need not directly address the topic.
The deadline for proposals is January 17, 2013.

Faculty members who wish to participate in the seminar without applying for course relief should send a letter of interest at any time.
Current Pembroke Center Faculty Fellows
The Pembroke Center's Faculty Research Fellowships support the participation of Brown faculty members in the Pembroke Seminar, an interdisciplinary research seminar that meets weekly throughout the academic year. Participants include Pembroke Center Postdoctoral Fellows, Brown faculty, visiting faculty, faculty affiliates, and graduate and undergraduate fellows. In 2012-2013, the seminar focuses on "Economies of Perception" (see full description). Timothy R. Bewes, Senior Faculty Research Fellow, leads the seminar. It meets on Wednesdays from 10:00 a.m. to 12:30 pm.
