Doug Kutach received his PhD from Rutgers in 2001 and taught at the University of Oklahoma and Texas Tech University before coming to Brown in 2005.
Kutach's research lies mainly in philosophy of science, philosophy of physics, metaphysics, and philosophy of language. His current work concerns statistical mechanics and its relation to causation, counterfactuals, and decision; the structure of spacetime and the relations between relativistic and non-relativistic spacetime theories; the Charge-Parity-Time symmetry in quantum field theory; and the relation between indicative and subjunctive conditionals.
