The Philosophy Graduate Forum was founded in 2000 with the goals of fostering productive philosophical discussion at Brown, providing a means for graduate students to present new research, and drinking beer. In 2003, the PGF mandate was expanded to include eating pizza, and in 2004, eating somosas.  At each meeting, a paper or work in progress is presented and subjected to rigorous, spirited, and frank criticism. Several times a year the PGF invites a faculty member (from Brown or elsewhere) or graduate student from another institution to speak. As the PGF enters its 8th year of activity, we anticipate nothing but the best in discussion, debate, beverages, and comestibles.
