Freedom of Expression & Living Constitution Conference
The Brown-Northwestern joint faculty conference, hosted by PTP Visiting Professor Steve Calabresi, will focus on the unifying theme: "Freedom of Expression and the Living Constitution." Professor Calabresi and Yale Law Professor Jack Balkin will kick off the discussion by each speaking for 12 minutes about New York Times v. Sullivan and the debate over living constitutionalism that it led to between Judges Bork and Scalia on the D.C. Circuit in Ollman v. Evans & Novak. Participants will each speak for about 10 minutes on an idea that relates to freedom of expression and/or living constitutionalism and will allow about 25 minutes for group comments and questions.
