The Janus Forum
Mission
The Janus Forum is a campus initiative that encourages open-minded debate about political ideas at Brown. The Janus Forum seeks to actively promote critical thinking and discourse by exposing students to a variety of perspectives regarding controversial political issues. Under the sponsorship of the Political Theory Project, the Janus Forum is responsible for organizing a number of events, including:
• Janus Forum Lecture Series: large lecture events with a “Hardball Question Award” and a cash prize essay contest
• Janus Conversations: smaller events featuring noted Brown professors and an informal environment
• Open Seminar Luncheons: bi-weekly lunch discussions at the Brown Faculty Club
• Janus Political Union Debates: informal public debates open to all Brown undergraduates
