David Estlund

David Estlund is Professor and Department Chair in the Department of Philosophy at Brown University. He has been teaching moral and political philosophy at Brown University since 1991. He previously taught at University of California, Irvine, and has spent fellowship years at the Program in Ethics at Harvard, and at Australian National University. He has received fellowships from the American Council of Learned Societies, and the National Endowment for the Humanities. Estlund's research focuses on ethics and social/political philosophy, particularly the areas of liberalism, justice, and democracy. He has served as editor for the collection, Democracy (Blackwell, 2002) and his book, "Democratic Authority: A Philosophical Framework," is forthcoming with Princeton University Press in 2007.
