HP has a site called Security protection HP Computer & network security: spam, worm,virus protection, application & resources" which covers all types of considerations.

Most site admins know their networked printers should be locked down with a password. Note that printers with hard drives have another vulnerability.

A printer with a hard drive means it has erasable storage om which users may install files. You need to access the printers Configure Filesystem tool to select a File Erase Mode. The Erase modes include secure sanitizing mode and secure or nonsecure fast modes. You can configure erase modes using HP Web JetAdmin or (in some cases) the device embedded web server.
