SOCIAL PSYCHOLOGY, BROWN UNIVERSITY:
The Department of Psychology and the Department of Cognitive and Linguistic Sciences invite applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in Social Psychology, beginning AY 2010/2011. Research focus is open, but we especially value programs of research that cross traditional boundaries of topics and methodology. Successful candidates have (1) a track record of excellence in research, (2) a well-specified research plan that is likely to lead to research funding, and (3) a readiness to contribute to undergraduate and graduate teaching and mentoring. All Ph.D. requirements must be completed before July 1, 2009. Brown has a highly interdisciplinary research environment in the study of mind, brain, behavior, and language and is establishing an integrated Department of Cognitive, Linguistic, and Psychological Sciences, effective July 2010. Plans to house the new department in a newly renovated state-of-the-art building in the heart of campus are well under way. SEMANTIC/PRAGMATIC OR SYNTACTIC LANGUAGE PROCESSING, BROWN UNIVERSITY:
The Department of Cognitive & Linguistic Sciences and the Department of Psychology invite applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in semantic, pragmatic, lexical, and/or syntactic processing of language beginning July 1. 2010. Expertise at the intersection of theoretical and experimental approaches is expected, and the successful candidate will have a string experimental research program informed by theoretical issues ion linguistics. Applicants should also have a broad teaching ability in cognitive science and linguistics at both the undergraduate and graduate levels, and be able to teach introductory courses in theoretical areas of language and linguistics as well as introductory and more advances courses in areas of psycholinguistics. Brown has a highly interdisciplinary research environment in the study of language, mind, brain, and behavior and is establishing an integrated Department of Cognitive, Linguistic and Psychological Sciences in 2010. VISUAL PERCEPTION/VISUAL COGNITION, BROWN UNIVERSITY:
The Department of Cognitive & Linguistic Sciences and the Department of Psychology
invite applications for a tenured Full Professor position in visual perception and/or
visual cognition, to begin in two years, on July 1, 2011.
Areas of interest include but are not limited to object and event perception, object
and face recognition, layout perception and scene understanding, spatial cognition, or
other aspects of high-level vision. Applicants must have a prominent experimental
research program and a broad teaching ability at both the undergraduate and
graduate levels; strong interests in theoretical, neuroimaging, and/or computational
approaches are highly desirable. Brown has a highly interdisciplinary research
environment in the study of mind, brain, behavior, and language, including the multidepartmental
Institute for Brain Science, and is establishing an integrated Department
of Cognitive, Linguistic, and Psychological Sciences in 2010.
