Sexual Assault Resources

Sexual Assault and Harassment Crisis Support 863-3476
Support is available 24 hours a day for students dealing with sexual assault, sexual harassment or abuse in a relationship. Contact is through Psychological Services. Give any first name and a phone number and the person on call will call you back. Confidential or if you wish, anonymous.

The Advocates Program
A Brown staff member is trained to help any Brown student explore his/her options to address an incident of sexual assault or sexual harassment. Talking with an Advocate does not require a student to file a disciplinary complaint or pursue any specific course of action. Available Monday through Friday 9am to 5pm.

Sexual Assault & Domestic Violence Hotline 1-800-494-8100
If you or someone you know needs help because of a sexual assault or an abusive relationship, call this hotline 24 hours a day. Counselor-advocates provide confidential support and are available to accompany victims of sexual assault to the hospital and police station. Ongoing counseling and support groups are available. (Available in Rhode Island only. Check your local phone book if you are in another state.)

Rape, Abuse & Incest National Network (RAINN) 1-800-656-HOPE
This is a national hotline for victims of sexual assault. The hotline offers free, confidential counseling and support 24 hours a day, from anywhere in the country. When a survivor calls the hotline, s/he is connected to the nearest local rape crisis center through a unique computer routing system that maintains the confidentiality of callers.

The Network for Battered Lesbians and Bisexual Women

Youth Pride Inc.

Youth Pride, Inc. (YPI) is the only statewide nonprofit organization with programming dedicated to meeting the social, emotional and educational needs of youth and young adults impacted by sexual orientation and gender identity. AIDS Care Ocean State

As Rhode Islands largest provider of direct-care services to persons affected by HIV and AIDS, AIDS Care Ocean State is dedicated to providing quality housing, case management, medical and nursing care, and prevention to adults, families, adolescents and children who are affected by or at risk for HIV infection. ACOS has the only assisted living facility in Rhode Island for people with HIV/AIDS, as well as a 24 –hour nursery and over 80 apartments for people living with HIV/AIDS.
