My research focuses on the individual and household level effects of occupational gender segregation. I am interested in the both the implications of laboring in a nontraditional (mostly male) occupation for women as well as the barriers to and facilitators of entry into these occupations. My Master's thesis utilized longitudinal data from the National Survey of Families and Households to examine how women's participation in nontraditional occupations influenced the division of household labor, finding that participation in gender atypical occupations in the paid labor sphere had significant implications for the negotiation of traditional work in the domestic realm.

I currently work as a research assistant for Dennis Hogan examining the family context and life course of adolescents with disabilities. Recent projects include studies of the educational attainment and family environments of children with disabilities and children of parents with disabilities.
