Curriculum Vitae

I am currently working with Professor Michael J. White on a project investigating the historical assimilation of immigrants.

I have worked extensively with Professor Leah K. VanWey studying intergenerational differences in educational attainment among residents of Altamira, Brazil, following changes to Brazil’s education policy.

In 2010, I completed my Master’s Thesis comparing family social capital (conceptualized in this study as parental involvement in learning activities with their children in the home environment) and family background characteristics (immigrant and generational status, race and ethnicity, and socioeconomic status, among others) as they relate to children’s early reading performance.

I came to Brown University after working in Washington, D.C. as a research assistant analyzing health care and retirement data.  Before moving to D.C., I was a full-time intern in the office of Senator Edward M. Kennedy, working alongside his immigration aide helping constituents with immigration-related matters.
