The Swearer Center's Youth Development and Education
programs encourage youth to be active change agents in their lives and
communities. Programs support youth to develop the skills and confidence
to identify and develop their talents in a range of arenas. With supportive
mentors, youth are encouraged to explore their personal potential, articulate
goals for their future, and access resources to meet those goals.
Programs for Adolescents
Through opportunities for leadership, action, and education, programs
for adolescents help participants consider their roles and responsibilities
in their communities and society. Programs engage youth in defining and
making choices, identifying community needs, and considering post-secondary
school goals. Youth are challenged to become positive and critical members
of their communities and to define actions to address the concerns they
identify personally and collectively. contacts: Mackay Miller, Assistant Director- Youth Programs , Kerri

Programs
for Children
Through mentoring, classroom exercises and after school
workshops, programs for children emphasize the development of literacy
and self-confidence. Children engage in fun and creative learning opportunities
that help them develop athletic and movement skills and express themselves
using performance, writing and scientific reasoning.
