Director of the Taubman Center and the Center's Public Opinion Laboratory. Ph.D. (1981), Indiana University. Also John Hazen White Distinguished Professor of Public Policy and Political Science. Specializations in American politics, elections, mass media, and technology. His current research focuses on e-government and policy making. He is the author of 15 books, including Patrick Kennedy; The Rise of Power (Prentice Hall, 2000); Air Wars; Television Advertising in Election Campaigns, 1952-2004 (Congressional Quarterly, 2005); The Rise and Fall of the Media Establishment (Bedford/St. Martins 2002), Celebrity Politics, (Prentice Hall 2002), Digital Government: Technology and Public Sector Performance (Princeton University Press 2005) , Evaluating Campaign Quality: Can the Electoral Process Be Improved? ( Cambridge University Press, 2007) and Biotechnology Policy Across National Boundaries (Palgrave/MacMillan, 2007).
