Christian DuComb is a Ph.D. student in theatre and performance studies at Brown University. After graduating from Haverford College with a B.A. in English in 2001, Christian spent a year studying cultural conceptions of performance space in Scotland, England, India, Thailand, and Japan on a fellowship from the Thomas J. Watson Foundation. Since 2003, Christian has co-created and performed in four original dance/theatre pieces with Dead Genius Productions, whose work has been presented by the Philadelphia Live Arts Festival, the University of Pennsylvania, Brown University, and Haverford College. His article "'Present-Day Kutiyattam': G. Venu's Radical and Reactionary Sanskrit Theatre" won the 2006 TDR Student Essay Contest and will be published in TDR in the fall of 2007.
