Michael McGarty designs
and teaches in the Department of Theatre, Speech and Dance at Brown
University. His design work at Trinity Rep includes "Dinner with
Friends", " A Christmas Carol", "The Piano Lesson",
"Ail", " Mrs. Warren's Profession", "7he Ctyptogram",
"The Beauty Queen of Leenane" and "Meshugah". His
Broadway productions include "Master Class, Wait Until Dark"
and Julia Sweeney's "God Said "Ha!" " He frequently
designs Off Broadway and in regional theatre, most recently "The
Invention of Love" at the Wilma Theater and "A Raisin in the
Sun" at the Williamstown Theatre Festival. His work has included
premieres by Horton Foote, Beth Henley, Elaine May, Lanford Wilson,
Alan Arkin, and Jay Presson Allen, and he has been nominated for LA
Ovation and Philadelphia Barrymore Awards.
