Outline of Student Exhibitions

Annual Juried Student Exhibition

This exhibition is held in the spring semester of each year and is organized by a committee of students who are chosen at a general meeting of visual art and art-semiotics concentrators. The committee has a faculty advisor, who is available to assist in organizing a comprehensive exhibition in the David Winton Bell Gallery, on the first floor of List Art Center. The work of the committee includes publicity, hanging, opening, etc. Appointed jurors decide which submissions will be shown, and also award some prizes during the jurying.

Thesis Exhibition

During the final semester of the senior year, all visual art concentrators are required to present an exhibition of their work. Though this is not an official course, it is a graduation requirement. Its purpose is to have the student bring together a cohesive body of work, and to offer the experience of planning and installing a solo exhibition. Two faculty members review and approve the exhibition, which should consist of work done during the three semesters prior to graduation.
