History of Art and Architecture and Visual Art

Students interested in completing requirements to acquire a degree in both Visual Art and the History of Art and Architecture will have to file concentration forms with both departments. For more information, please contact the concentration advisors for both areas.

Independent Concentration

Visual Art courses and the studio facilities in the List Art Center are frequently used as part of Independent Concentrations.

Students may utilize this alternative in order to design and follow their own interdisciplinary course of study at Brown. Combined with art, some of these concentrations have encompassed Music, Theatre Arts, Applied Mathematics, Physics, Psychology, Literature and Society, and Religious Studies. More information on Independent Concentrations can be found in the Resource Center in Rhode Island Hall or on the 2nd floor of University hall along with examples of previously approved proposals. Forms for proposals are available from Deans Armando Bengochea and Karen Romer in University Hall.
