The Artemis A.W. and Martha Sharp Joukowsky Institute for Archaeology and the Ancient World
Completed in September 2009, Rhode Island Hall became the new home of the Artemis A.W. and Martha Sharp Joukowsky Institute for Archaeology and the
Ancient World. As one of the multidisciplinary efforts created by the Initiatives for Academic Enrichment, the Joukowsky Institute for Archaeology and
the Ancient World will gather resources and create opportunities for both formal and informal exchanges of intellectual ideas relating to the Ancient
World.
The comprehensive renovation created a state-of-the-art environment for the Joukowsky Institute and their program and has recaptured much of the
original character of the building. Several large decorative skylights have been restored and once again bring natural light down to the floors below.
Key design features include 50 seat classroom, mezzanine level lab, conference rooms, new faculty offices, graduate student study space and support
space throughout.
