How do I get connected in my dorm?

There are 2 paths to connectivity in the dorms, the wired and wireless networks. The advantage of the wired network is its security, stability and speed. Of course, the wireless network is great when mobility is needed.

To connect to the wired network:

We require that your computer is registered on the wired network. Once it has been registered, you will connect without authenticating.

  1. plug a network (a.k.a. ethernet) cable into your computer and the tap (a.k.a. port) in the wall.
  2. open a browser such as internet explorer, firefox or safari
  3. you will be automatically directed to http://myconnection.brown.edu
  4. Simply follow the instructions at myConnection to register your computer on the network.
