How can I study/work from off-campus?

Use the VPN. It stands for Virtual Private Network and is a free download on the CIS site. Once you have downloaded it, just install it and run it. The VPN gives your computer a Brown IP address, so it seems that you are on campus and therefore, all systems which are restricted for on-campus only will be available for you to use.
