How do I get a username, password and email account?

Great question. The answer is different depending on your affiliation.

Students: This year, incoming students actually created their username and password in the Banner system when they applied to come to Brown. However, this did not activate their email account. To activate your email account (and other centrally provided services, such as mystuff), just visit http://activate.brown.edu and follow the instructions on the screen. You will need your BannerID to complete the process. You can look up your BannerID by following these instructions:

1. Log on to Self-Service Banner (http://selfservice.brown.edu/menu)
2. Click "Student and Financial Aid" tab
3. Click the "Registration" link
4. Click the "Registration Status" link
5. On the right-hand side of the resulting "Registration Term" page (under the "Return to Menu", "Site Map", "Help", and "Exit" links), the student's Banner Id, name, and current date and time are displayed.

For faculty and staff: It's probably a good idea to talk to the person who hired/recruited you, but the basic process is to

1. I-9 on your first day of work
2. Get your Brown ID card
3. Activate your account by visiting http://activate.brown.edu

For students, faculty and staff: If you want to manage your account (after it has been setup), change your password, etc., please visit myAccount.
