Five Steps to Get Control

National Cyber Security Awareness Month - October 2007

Cy BearMeet Cy Bear, our Cyber Security Awareness mascot with friendly reminders about safe computing habits.

Cy Bear offered important messages during the month of October on: the hazards of illegal downloading and social networking; protection against ID theft, phishing and malware; and your responsibility to safeguard confidential information.

The weekly quizzes on each subject have concluded.

Week 5 - Confidential Data Protection

Confidential information – whether your own or data you manage as part of your job – must be properly safeguarded for the protection of those individuals whose information is being processed, as well as for those who handle it. In addition, if the content is regulated by state or federal laws, disclosure to unauthorized parties could have legal and/or financial repercussions.

The following two documents are key computing policies with which all members of the Brown's computing community should be familiar.
