Problemarket.com EDU + is a project created specially for Brown University by Davide Grassi and Igor Stromajer, multimedia artists based in Ljubljana, Slovenia, who produce documentary films, performances, installation art, and net projects. Initiated in 2001 as an ongoing art project, Problemarket.com functions on two levels: as a net project and as a series of live performances. By adopting the image, attitude, and language of commercial companies, the goal of the project is to mock business methods and policies: instead of trading consumer goods, the artists suggest we trade problems.

Educational problems in the US are the focus of Problemarket.com EDU+. Employing their usual mix of irony and humor, Grassi and Stromajer will present a two-hour performance in the List Art Center Auditorium. The first part of the performance will include the artists' introduction of Problemarket.com, its concepts and activities, followed by a screenings of two short video-documentaries (from 2001 and 2003). The second part is a speech focusing on educational problems in the US, including Brown University and Providence. The performance will end with an open discussion about local educational problems.

Co-sponsored by the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Slovenia and Brown University Creative Arts Council and Departments of Visual Art, and Modern Culture and Media.
