Happy New Year to one and all!

Geez, my ears have been ringing ever since the December statements were sent with the Presidential Bucks.  I could even make out some of the words!  Things like, “What an ego!”  “No false pride there!”  “Show some class!”  Members, friends, Club patrons…lend me your ears!  Having my mug on the Presidential Bucks was someone else’s idea… really!  I’m so modest, hummingbirds nest on my shoulders.  That said, I do think the Buck looks pretty darn good, but they’ll look even better being handed to your server at a la carte dining, or reducing the cost of an event.  “Use d’em Bucks!”

In fact, check our Club website Under the President’s Message, there is a tab for Presidential Bucks.  If you don’t have one yet, you can download it there.  And, when you use a Buck, we’ll give you another.  Hey, gotta keep my face in circulation, ya’ know. (Ooops!  Ears are ringing again!)

That levity aside, the fact of the matter is that our Club is a great destination.  We are proud of ALL the hard working staff at the Club.  The photo on the inside cover proudly displays your team!  There’s a boatload of pride within these walls.  Maybe I’m a bit biased (!), but I feel it when I walk in the door.  In truth, I’m just the President… a faculty member who has the pleasure of helping a professional staff in a few little ways here and there.  THEY do the work.  Don’t use “the Club” just because I ask you to… use “our Club” because THEY will make you feel like the center of attention.

In closing, I suppose you’ve realized by now that I’ll do (almost!) anything to grab your attention… something like focusing the Eye of Sauron on our Club… but in this case it’s a good focus!  And, to stretch the Lord of the Rings analogy a bit further, the Club truly is “our Precious” … and a “precious” resource for the entire campus and extended Brown community. 

By the way… remember our Top-7 objective.  Make our Club one of the top 7 places you have dinner.  Enjoy all the others, but please keep our Club in your dinner loop!
