Graphic Services is FSC Certified
Here at Brown Graphic Services, we're doing our part to help Brown be socially responsible.
As of September 2008, Graphic Services has been awarded the Forest Stewardship Council Chain-of-Custody Certification.
This certification allows Brown University to indicate to recipients of printed pieces that the paper stock used has been grown, harvested, recycled, and produced responsibly. While we've always been able to purchase and print on FSC certified paper, we're now able to label our printed matter with the FSC brand assuring that the paper has been produced in accordance with FSC policies.
FSC certified paper can come from a variety of sources.
- Pure :: Virgin fiber from well-managed forests
- Mixed Sources :: From any combination of well-managed forests, controlled sources, and recycled wood or fiber
- Recycled :: From 100% recycled wood or fiber
Each type of paper has its own distinct label with Brown Graphic Services' unique certification number.
Our FSC Certification applies to our printshop only.
Metcalf Copy Center is not FSC Certified, and can not print work displaying an FSC label. Any misuse of our FSC certification and our labels will result in the loss of certification.
