The Age of Spanish American Revolutions:
Spanish South America

This exhibit is the second in a series commemorating the Spanish American wars of independence. The first exhibit, "The Age of Spanish American Revolutions: Setting the Stage," ran from 16 March 2009 to 23 September 2009, and focused on the inter-imperial conflicts and Atlantic revolutions that culminated in Napoleon’s invasion of the Iberian peninsula in 1808. The current exhibit focuses on the wars of independence in South America, while a future exhibit will examine the independence movement in Mexico.

Exhibition may be seen in Reading Room from April 15 through
October 1, 2011.

Exhibition prepared by Kenneth C. Ward, Maury A. Bromsen Curator of Latin American Books.
