Hudson Bay, Canada, 1677
This map of the Hudson Bay region appeared in John Seller’s Atlas Maritimus and in the English Pilot. The smudge in the facsimile is a flaw in the copperplate. This flaw later developed into a crack 15cm. long and is apparent in subsequent issues of the map. The top of this map as shown here is north, but the map was printed with north on the right.
