Heading Reports : Invalid Headings
Abstract: The list of Invalid Headings is one of the
group of Headings Reports that is generated daily by Josiah cataloging
activity as part of database maintenance/quality control procedures.
This list contains bibliographic headings which, after normalization,
match up with 4xx cross references found in Josiah authority records.
These headings need to be searched in order to determine if there is a
conflict, and if so which heading is correct, the previously existing
Josiah authority record or the newly added bibliographic heading. Once
this has been determined, the affected authority and/or bibliographic
records need to be corrected in Josiah. This procedure outlines the
steps involved in identifying the incorrect heading and correcting the
appropriate authority and/or bibliographic records.
PROCEDURE:
Search Josiah for the Invalid Heading
Verify that the heading is still listed as Invalid in Josiah
Is there an authority record for the "Valid Form"
Is there a bibliographic heading for the "Invalid Form"
