Add and Remove Fields in the Inbox Header

Maybe you don’t really use the Flag icon, but would really like to see the size of a message in your Inbox... this tip will show you how to add and remove fields that make up the headings in your Inbox or any other mailbox.

Add/Remove/Move Header Fields

 

  1. Click on the Inbox
  2. Right click on the Header bar
    (see figure 1)
  3. Select Field Chooser from the shortcut menu
  4. Click the down arrow and select either the Frequently-used fields or All Mail fields listing
    (see figure 2)
  5. Click the field you want to ADD to the Header bar and drag it to a location on the Header bar.  When you see a red arrow release the mouse
  6. Repeat step 5 for additional fields you want to add, for example the CC and the Size fields.
  7. To REMOVE a field from the Header bar, click on the field and drag it off the Header bar or right click on the field and choose Remove this Column.  
  8. To MOVE a field to a different location on the Header bar, click the field then drag it to the new location

 ADDITIONAL TIP: Don't forget that you can sort by any field listed in your inbox just by clicking on that field name.  Click once and the field sorts ascending, then click the field again and it sorts descending.
