Brown University Library

In 1994, Michael Harper and co-editor Anthony Walton published Every Shut Eye Ain't Asleep: An Anthology of Poetry by African Americans Since 1945. [The anthology] "is dedicated to the achievement of Sterling A. Brown, as a poet and folksayist, scholar-teacher, and pioneering wordsmith in a dynamic American lexicon, especially the laconic meditations and metaphysics extant in folkspeech as the underbelly of the nation's lexicon."
